Rond Point, Méribel
This popular mountain bar located at 1,600m on the main piste down into the resort has a vast terrace with live music in the afternoons, against a backdrop of gorgeous views. Don’t miss the toffee vodka or the excellent snacks. There’s a bus back down if you’re not steady on your skis.

Going strong since the 1970s, this huge, up-for-it bar and club next to the Solaise slopes near the resort centre has games, live music and DJ sets in staggered time-slots until the wee small hours.
Smithy’s Tavern, Les Deux Alpes
Among abound 30 late-opening bars on the resort’s main drag, this one stands out for its weekly band nights and themed parties, the latter ranging from pirates or cowboys or hip hop and funk (fancy dress optional). There’s also a char-grill restaurant.
Scotty’s Bar, La Plagne
Next door to Mark Warner’s Chalet Hotel Christina, this hugely popular ski-in ski-out spot has a great location at the base of the Stade Olympique competition run, legendary rock sessions out on the terrace and regular themed parties.
Jam Bar, Tignes
The chilled little venue in the resort centre, just off the piste by the Palafour lift, is named for its jam sessions by local musicians.
Le Kudeta, Courchevel
This iconic Cuban-themed lounge and DJ bar on the slopes opens until the early hours for live music and DJs, accompanied by cocktails and tapas.
Mooserwirt, St Anton
Famously raucous, this mountain bar has high wooden balconies for watching the live music and a reputation for selling more beer than any other bar in Austria, despite closing at 8pm.
Krazy Kangaruh, St Anton
Another legend on the slopes of the party-loving Austria resort, with a large open-air dancefloor, the Mooserwirt’s rival has been a wild party venue since the 1960s.
Bar Roma, Courmayeur
Après-ski comes in sophisticated form in this lively stone-walled bar situated amidst designer boutiques on cobbled Via Roma, with ornate furniture, comfy sofas, cocktails and complimentary canapés.
