This is a casual and welcoming running group for anyone in the club who wants a bit more of a social element to their exercise and training!
We tend to split off into 2 groups, a faster one and a ‘social’ one. If you’re used to running on your own, or want to get into it but not sure if you’ll slow up the group or how you’ll get on, then on the first Weds of the month we run a ‘newbies’ night, so you can come along and give it a go without worrying about any of that, and one of the usual hosts will head out with you all at a pace and distance to suit you.
NEW TO RUNNING – if you’re completely new to exercise and running, you may be better under the guidance of a qualified instructor to get you started, before coming along to these more casual sessions. However occasionally when we have a few people all together keen to start getting into running we can start up a little beginner group to train up to joining the main group, so let us know if you’d be keen to get involved in that.
The route various, but often it will be across the Thames and then into St James Park, taking in Green Park and Hyde Park too. Distance can be determined on the night, and can be anything from 3 to 8 miles. Depending on turnout we’ll try and have 2 different paces, one up at around 7/8 minute miles, and one at around 9/10 minute miles (about 1 hr pace for a 10k).
Cost: £free, but if you need to stash kit and valuables please take along £3 which will be payable to Bankside Health Club to allow us to use their locker rooms and showers (and they have towels there too so no need to bring your own). You will also need your own padlock for the lockers there
This is a regular weekly event and as such if for ‘gold’ members only
