River Wey & St Martha’s Church, Surrey Hills – 7 miles
Start and Finish – Guildford train station
Start time – 1030
This is one of my favourite hikes, being easy to get to by train, and then it’s a really short walk out of Guildford along the river before you get into lovely countryside. It’s an interesting route past some lovely houses and fields below the ridge of the North Downs Way, before we head up the sandy ridge and to St Martha’s Church at the top, with some glorious views across the surrounding landscape. We’ll then head down the spine of the ridge, following the North Downs Way back to the River Wey, and then follow this into Guildford for lunch.
Terrain – mostly off road and can get muddy, so please wear waterproof trainers or boots, The aren’t many hills, but there is one pretty steep one! :-)
