Full Description

Trips to Snowdonia are always special, and there are few places with so much to do! The hiking goes without saying, with some spectacular mountains and routes, but there’s also white water rafting, epic mountain biking, huge zip wires, underground caverns filled with trampolines, and new in the last year is the Forest Coaster and Quarry Karts (details below)!

We’ve got a great set of apartments to ourselves, nestled in a valley a mile outside of Dolgellau, and at the foot of Cadair Idris, one of the most stunning mountains in Wales. It’s self catering, and we’ll aim to eat out at the local pubs for a couple of nights, and in for one of the others. Breakfasts will be self-catered and we’ll provide basic food to cover this, but please bring anything else along if you have any favourites you don’t want to be without!

The itinerary is as below:

Thursday 9th April – travel up at whatever time suits you, and please eat on route if you’re going to be late arriving.

Friday 10th April – all day guided hike up Cadair Idris. Packed lunches (provided)

Saturday 11th April – free. Optional extras as below!

Sunday 12th April – guided hike up Snowdon

Monday 13th April – local hike in the morning (self guided) or optional activities as below, followed by pub lunch and then travel home.

Optional Extras:

Forest Coaster – One kilometer of gravity driven twists, turns and thrills through our Fforest wonderland. The Coaster is a twisting barrel of laughs through the trees. From £20pp.

Note – This is in Betws y Coed, approx 50 minutes by car.

Zip World – fancy a 2000m zip line alongside 3 others at the same time?! Zip Titan’s the thing for you…or if you’d prefer your zip lining underground (yes, underground) then Zip Caverns might be more up your street! Titan is £50pp, Caverns is £60pp, and you can see full info about them if you click here!

Bounce Below – this is at the same location as the zip lines, so a good thing to combine if you fancy it. The breath-taking site, in a former slate mine in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, lets you play, slide, roll, jump and bounce from net to net in a cavern the size of a cathedral. Following a massive refurbishment, the Bounce Below experience now offers four new industrial slides, the height of two double decker buses and six new levels of bouncing fun, giving underground adventurers 400 additional square metres to explore. Price is from £20.

NOTE – Zip World and Bounce Below are about a 30 minute drive from the accommodation

Quarry Karts – new this year and looks great fun! Gear up for a gravity-fuelled adventure with Quarry Karts! Take on the UK’s ONLY mountain cart experience as you travel down the Penrhyn Quarry mountains, alongside the world’s fastest zip line! Explore the unique dirt track and enjoy the excitement of twists and turns to incredible views on the Snowdonia mountain range and beyond.

Note – approx 1hr 25 mins drive from our accommodation. From £39pp

Rafting – another short drive away is the National White Water Centre. A 2 hour session on the grade 3-4 rapids is approx £350 per raft (holding 4-7 people), though you could also opt for a little 2-man raft with no guide which is £88!

Please let us know which of the optional extras you’d like to do at the time of booking so that we can check availability, and group you all up as best we can to make sure you’re able to get as much packed in as possible!

ACCOMMODATION:

The accommodation is in 4 different apartments, with rooms ranging from singles to twins, triples and one quad, but no bunk beds! The largest apartment is able to accommodate 15-20 in it’s living area for chilling out and eating. Towels are not provided, and you would also need to bring your own bedding on the whole – pillows and blankets are available there, so you could either just bring pillow cases and sheets, or a duvet if you’re able to pack it, or a sleeping bag would of course also be fine.

MEALS:

We will provide basic breakfast materials and also packed lunches (for you to make). Dinners are at own cost and will be at local pubs, or the host will also help arrange for a meal in the apartments if you’d rather relax there for an evening and cook as a group.

TO BOOK:

please register interest above and we’ll be in touch with payment details.
